These images show the initial placement of the linear rails on top of the aluminum tube beams, along with the bearing blocks and a thicker aluminum plate that will form the basis of the main moving platform.

In crane and motion-control terms, this plate would typically be called a carriage or sled—the component that rides along the rails and carries the rest of the system.

At this stage, everything is just set in place to evaluate:

  • fitment

  • spacing

  • overall proportion

  • how the system wants to come together

Nothing is fixed yet. This is about seeing the parts in context and checking assumptions made during layout.

There’s a shift that happens here—the build starts to move from individual components toward a system. Even loosely assembled, the relationship between the rails, bearings, and carriage begins to define how the crane will move.

For now, it’s all temporary. Just enough to understand what’s working—and what isn’t.
