When working with metal, especially steel, cutting fluid helps:

  • reduce heat

  • improve surface finish

  • extend tool life

  • produce cleaner, more accurate threads

Without lubrication, tools tend to bind, overheat, and wear out quickly. The result is rough cuts, broken taps, or holes that don’t come out clean.

Applying a small amount of cutting fluid at the point of contact makes a noticeable difference. The tool cuts more smoothly, and the process becomes more controlled.

Like the center punch, this is a small step that pays off in accuracy and consistency—especially as more parts begin to depend on each other fitting correctly.
