Contribute to the Stop-Motion Wiki
The Stop-Motion Wiki is a curated project — built slowly and carefully — to document the language, methods, and practices of stop-motion.
The first major section is the Dictionary of Stop-Motion, but more spaces will follow: guides, fabrication notes, hardware references, and production methods.
This wiki stays open because the craft is bigger than any one person. If you’ve got knowledge, experience, or even just a good correction to share, it’s welcome here.
How to Contribute
This isn’t an open-edit wiki. Entries are curated, but you can take part by:
- Suggesting a Term → a word you think belongs, with a short definition or context.
- Expanding a Term → add examples, production notes, or historical detail.
- Sharing Resources → links, references, or media that deepen understanding.
- Fixing or Clarifying → point out errors, typos, or unclear sections.
Apply by Email
If you’d like to contribute, write to:
[email protected]
Include:
- The entry or subject you want to add or edit.
- Why it matters to you — your perspective counts as much as the definition.
- Any references, examples, or media you’d like linked.
What Makes a Good Entry
- Clear, simple language that works for both beginners and pros.
- Follow the shared format for dictionary terms:
# Term
## Definition
## Context
## Examples
## Notes
## Media
- For other spaces (guides, hardware, methods), keep the same spirit: concise, practical, grounded in stop-motion practice.
- Respect for the history of the craft and the people who practice it.
Thank You
This wiki exists to keep knowledge alive, not locked away. Every suggestion helps shape a resource that students, makers, and professionals can use.
Not everything will make it in, but every submission will be read and considered with care.
